As a major player in the pet food sector, the company identified the challenge of better developing its open innovation ecosystem within the agri-food sector. In fact, the company worked little with external players in the agri-food sector and did little scientific monitoring of emerging themes in this sector.

Already familiar with Vitagora from a previous professional experience, Anabelle called on Vitagora to support and accelerate their first steps in developing this weak link in their open innovation ecosystem.

In order to meet this demand, Vitagora has implemented the following actions:
- Organization of “acculturation” meetings
Vitagora has taken charge of designing and organizing exchanges with players in its ecosystem.
This enabled the pet food company to:
• identify technical or scientific issues shared by other manufacturers in the agri-food sector;
• identify experts in various fields who could provide answers to these issues;
• understand the types of collaboration possible with public and private stakeholders.
- Continuous “open innovation” intelligence
Beyond this initial phase, Vitagora continued to support the pet food company through an active process of identifying and connecting with experts in its ecosystem—either reactively, to respond to recurring and specific issues, or proactively, based on the emergence of weak signals within its network.
This enabled the identification of various players providing solutions to a variety of issues, including sensory properties and palatability, waste recovery, industrial manufacturing processes, and more.
Results obtained
Working confidently with Vitagora as an “open innovation” partner enables the pet food manufacturer's R&D teams to accelerate the identification and mobilization of expertise or technical solutions, thereby responding agilely to a multitude of issues.
For even greater efficiency, these connections are actively monitored by the Vitagora team, who schedule appointments, follow up, and provide post-meeting updates.
